House League

Revelstoke Football began in 1895 with the Kootney Rovers.  Since that time the sport of soccer has been embedded firmly in our community and has been one of the largest sports program to date for youth and children in Revelstoke.  Just under 400 children and youth participate in our programs every year.  We have over 150 volunteers who help to make the youth soccer program a great success.

The Revelstoke Youth Soccer House League accommodates all ages and abilities and its main purpose is to encourage participation, fun and skill development.  Boys and girls ages 5 through 14 are under the soccer program direction of the Revelstoke Youth Soccer Association which became a society in 1981.   Our season runs from the end of April (weather permitting) to the end of June.

In 2009, thanks to a generous contribution from the Columbia Basin Trust, RYSA was able to create a central location for our soccer program.   The Centennial Park fields have become a “Soccer Center” every Tuesday and Thursday for the children and youth who register for our program.

Select Teams

RYSA supports a development/rep soccer program structure where players can be involved in the game at a technical degree that is beyond the regular house program.  Rep teams can begin at U11 and the objective of the development/rep program is to encourage further skill development within a positive and challenging teaching environment.

Teams in the Rep program play in the Thompson Okanagan Youth Soccer League (TOYSL) and travel throughout the region (usually on Sundays) playing against teams from Vernon, Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Kelowna and Penticton.

While in larger communities there is rep level soccer at each age group, due to limited numbers and volunteer coaches, the age level of rep teams entered from Revelstoke will be determined on a year by year basis.

All rep teams will hold a publically advertised try-out as part of the team selection process which will be advertised in the local newspaper or displayed on our web site.

All rep team players must compete in the RYSA house league as determined by RYSA.

Indoor Soccer

Indoor soccer for children and youth is determined on a year by year basis dependant on volunteer coaches and number of participants.  If offered, indoor soccer takes place in the fall and winter seasons.  Please watch for times and locations on our web site or in the Community Brochure which is published Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer.  You can pick up a copy at the Community Center.

The Pat Wadey Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student from Revelstoke Secondary School who has made a significant contribution to the sport of soccer, either as an athlete, coach or official.
